Your SHRM Southeast Regional Team

Did you know that as an SHRM volunteer leader, you have three SHRM staff members to assist you?  The role of the SHRM Southeast Regional Team is to work directly with volunteer leaders to help them in their roles.  The region is supported by three SHRM staff members whose work is dedicated solely to the SHRM members and volunteer leaders in the Southeast.

Lisa-Marie Gardner is the Southeast Regional Administrator.  Lisa is located at SHRM headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.  She maintains the volunteer leader database for the region and handles administrative issues for the team.  Her role is to assist volunteer leaders with issues such as:

• Membership audits
• Supply requests
• E-mail blasts
• Changes to chapter or State Council contact information on the SHRM web site
• At-large mailing labels or lists
• General questions and requests

Shelly Trent, SPHR, is the Southeast Regional Manager.  Shelly is based in Louisville, Kentucky.  Her role is to:

• Help individual members with questions about membership and member benefits.
• Aide chapters in remaining affiliated and with chapter operations.
• Attend State Council and Regional Council meetings as a resource.
• Participate in state conferences as an exhibitor.
• Act as a speaker at chapter meetings, state or chapter conferences, and events as available.
• Promote SHRM member benefits.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of members.
• Support potential chapters in becoming affiliated.
• Attend chapter board meetings as requested and available to conduct new board orientation or strategic planning.

Dorothy Hill, SPHR, is the Southeast Regional Director.  Dorothy is based in Vero Beach, Florida.  Her role is to:

• Communicate and promote SHRM vision and strategic objectives to volunteer leaders and members/potential members.
• Serve as the key communication liaison between SHRM Headquarters and the volunteer leaders.
• Facilitate the Regional Council to support knowledge sharing and the identification of best practices.
• Obtain feedback on needs/concerns of volunteer leaders and members.
• Ensure alignment of chapter and state operating plans and goals with SHRM objectives by communicating and promoting SHRM strategic priorities and facilitating strategic planning activities with State Councils and chapter boards.
• Continually review the effectiveness of the volunteer leader structure and provide recommendations for improvement.
